Hidden Figures is about three colored women living during the time where segregation was allowed. These three women really were hidden figures- not a lot of us know about them. Katherine Gobel- later known as Katherine Jackson, Mary Jackson, and Dorothy Vaughn. Katherine was a computer for NASA in the "Colored Computers Room", until she got promoted into the main room, along with many white men, because of her extreme intelligence. She was there to help with the Friendship 7 launch. However, Katherine had to walk half a mile to go to the bathroom. Once the head manager, Paul Stafford, figured out where she had been going, he knocked down the white women's bathroom sign, indicating it free to white and colored women. This, and the simple fact that Katherine was working with NASA, started a revolution. People were starting to see how wrong segregation was. This was an example of social responsibility because Paul Stafford started to realize that black or white, woman or man, people were no different, and he made a change about all the stereotypes Katherine was getting.
