QUESTION TWO (Age - the age of our actors is a counter-type to the normal formalities of a horror movie with both of our characters being late teens. Normally you would expect a scary elderly person or perhaps a family with varying ages. This therefore represents young adults to be in danger due to their individualism when going out as many do in the present day., Ethnicity - the ethnicity of our characters is white and this goes with the stereotype of most horror films. It is usually white families or white female/male characters. We conformed to this as people with black ethnicity are seen as troublemakers, whereas we wanted our victim to look innocent so the audience can relate to the film more., Regional Identity - we failed to incorporate any regional identity into our main brief however I don't feel this has restricted us in anyway at all. If we were to include any form of regional identity then we suggested giving our character a cup of tea to fit with the medias general representation of British people who are commonly associated with drinking tea. , Gender - the gender of our characters went as a counter-type to the conventional parts played by actors. For example our protagonist was played by a female and this role is normally played by a male due to the dominant and powerful stereotypes that men are regarded with. However our protagonist being female goes against this stereotype and is the superior in our film in terms of dominance over the other character. Our victim is male also going against the usual stereotype of a typically helpless female victim who is too weak and feeble to change the scenario of her upcoming death. So by making our victim a male character it almost highlights the amount of power our protagonist possess' in order to bring down our victim. , Berger - Berger's theory goes along the lines that women are in films purely for the objectification of male characters. His quote was "men look, women appear". This fails to tie in with our main brief as we have used our female character as the Antagonist so the roles are almost reversed creating a counter-type. , Hebdige - his theory of Fun or Trouble gives the idea that when it comes to the media the younger generation are regarded as either fun or troublesome. When it comes to our victim he can be viewed as fun due to his slight yet noticeable dancing and tapping of his feet when listening to his music. In terms of trouble you could argue that our Antagonist is a troublesome teen as she is seen to be creeping about and even inflicts pain upon our victim., Disability / Ability - all of our cast are fully able and we decided to not incorporate any disable characters due to the lack of disability in the film industry. This is a sad reality and hints that there is a lack of diversity amongst the film industry when it comes to the physical and mental ability of actors and actress'., Sexuality - the sexuality of both our characters is heterosexual and this complies with the normal stereotype. As the film progresses our female character conforms to the stereotype as she refers to her boyfriend. )
